Welcome to the 19th Annual
Kurl for Kids Bonspiel
March 20-22, 2008
Tam Heather Curling Club
Kurl for Kids is the world’s largest celebrity bonspiel, where World, National and Provincial Champion Curlers combine with local curlers from across Central-Southern Ontario to curl in a spirit of camaraderie and giving, to raise money in aid of Children in Crisis.
The 19th Annual Kurl for Kids Celebrity Charityspiel was another big success! This was our second year supporting the Sandra Schmirler Foundation and to date have raised over $60,000. Our 19 year total now stands at approximately $1.8 million in support of Children in Crisis.

This year’s event had a very special guest, Emma Gushulak, daughter of former Ontario and British Colombia Scotties Tournament of Hearts Champion and long time K4K Celebrity Skip, Diane McLean.
Emma’s story began on October 7th, 2006 when she was born more than 23 weeks premature. Her odds on survival were set at 20% to 50%. Emma was finally able to go home on February 14th, 2007 after months of living in an incubator, on ventilation, numerous blood transfusions and undergoing surgery to get her lungs to start working. Valentine’s Day will always have a very special meaning in the McLean-Gushulak household.

We never imagined when we made the move to support the Sandra Schmirler Foundation that we would be supporting one of our own. Emma’s story, and those of so many other prematurely born babies, clearly shows just how our efforts and your support are contributing to making a difference.
The Kurl for Kids Celebrity Charityspiel and the Sandra Schmirler Foundation thank you for your support,
‘Because Champions Start Small’
